Privacy Policy

Overview

WellStaged is operated by Relay Capital LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We restrict access to your listing photos as described below and we don’t sell your data.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address.
  • Your photos and the staged versions we generate, plus the room type, style and revision requests you choose.
  • Purchase records: which credit pack you bought and when. Stripe collects your payment details; we never see your full card number.
  • Feedback you send about results. We automatically redact email addresses and phone numbers from feedback text before storage; this does not remove every kind of personal information. Please avoid including personal details.
  • Anti-abuse signals: a normalized form of your email address (to stop one person claiming free previews more than once) and a one-way hash of the IP address you signed up from. We don’t store the raw IP address for this purpose.
  • Usage and device data from analytics (see below) and server logs.

How your photos are handled

  • Photos are stored in private cloud object storage (Cloudflare R2), rather than a public photo gallery.
  • Customer access uses short-lived signed links issued after an account ownership check. Anyone you share a valid link or downloaded image with may be able to view it. Authorized operators and service providers may access photos as needed to operate the service, investigate safety issues, or provide support. Photos you haven’t unlocked show watermarked previews only.
  • To create staged versions, we send your photo to an AI image-generation provider. We only use providers whose published or contracted terms say they don’t train their models on data sent through their API.
  • Every photo you upload goes through an automated safety check before it can be staged. The check is run by our AI provider on a reduced-size copy of the photo, under the same terms as image generation. Photos that don’t pass can’t be staged. We keep moderation categories to detect repeated misuse. Some serious safety flags also cause us to hide the photo from your account and retain a separate, restricted copy for safety review. Deleting a photo or project does not automatically delete that safety copy.
  • We use your photos to improve our staging quality only if you turn on “Use my photos to help improve staging quality” in Settings. It is off by default and you can change it at any time. We always use your ratings and comments about results.

Who we share data with

We use a small set of service providers to run WellStaged, each only for its purpose:

  • AI providers, for image generation, automated safety checks and image-quality assessments.
  • Cloudflare, for private photo storage.
  • Stripe, to take payments.
  • A transactional email provider, to send sign-in links.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot-protection check on the sign-in form. It runs in your browser and receives technical signals such as your IP address and browser details to tell people from bots.
  • PostHog, for product analytics, and Sentry, for error reporting (below).

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights and users’ safety.

Preventing abuse

Free previews are limited per person. To enforce that, we compare a normalized version of your email address (lowercased, without “+” tags and, for Gmail, without dots) across accounts, and we count new accounts per IP address per day using a one-way hash of the IP address. We also limit how many sign-in links can be requested for an email address or from an IP address per hour, and we don’t offer free previews to temporary email domains. We use this only to prevent abuse of free previews and of our service.

Analytics and error reporting

We use PostHog to understand how the product is used (for example pages visited and whether a purchase completed). We identify signed-in users by an internal account ID only, not by email or name. We don’t use session recording, and we don’t send your photos, prompts or feedback text to analytics. We route analytics through our own domain. We use Sentry to find and fix errors; error reports may include technical details such as the page or job where something failed.

Cookies

We use a cookie to keep you signed in. Analytics may store an identifier in your browser to count visits.

Retention and deletion

Deleting a project removes it from your account and schedules its ordinary photos, staged images and exports for background deletion. Processing may wait for work already in progress and may take longer during an outage. Restricted safety copies are handled separately and are not removed by project deletion. Some purchase, usage, feedback and abuse-prevention records may remain after project deletion.

Encrypted recovery backups can contain account records, photos, exports and restricted safety copies. Our normal backup retention target is 30 days; older copies may remain longer if backup or pruning fails. Deleting active data does not immediately remove it from existing backups. Before a restored backup is returned to service, we must reapply deletion requests made after that backup.

Restricted safety copies require a separate review of whether they must be preserved or can be deleted; they do not currently expire automatically. We retain records where needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse or meet applicable obligations, and review deletion requests individually.

To delete your account or ask for a copy of your data, email support@wellstaged.app. Account deletion and data-copy requests are handled manually, after we verify ownership. We will explain any information we need to retain and any limits on the request; account deletion is not an automatic in-app operation.

Security

We protect data with private storage, signed access links, owner-only access checks, and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can change the photo-improvement setting at any time, delete projects yourself, and contact us to access, correct or delete your information. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also have rights to obtain a portable copy, object to or restrict certain uses, withdraw consent, or complain to a relevant authority. Contact us to exercise a right or ask about a request. We assess requests under applicable law and explain any exceptions. Changing your photo-improvement setting stops future use for that purpose; it does not itself delete your account or existing records.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy in a material way we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you. Questions or requests: Relay Capital LLC, 333 West Brown Deer Road Unit G - 956, Milwaukee, WI 53217, support@wellstaged.app.
