Virtual staging pricing: pay per photo, no subscription

WellStaged costs $5 for one photo, or $29 for 10 photos ($2.90 each), and falls to $1.79 a photo in the largest pack. Previews are free and credits never expire. Among the vendors compared below, virtual staging runs from about $0.24 to $30 a photo, depending on whether a person or software does the work.

What an unlocked download includes

  • The staged version you selected at full resolution, without the watermark.
  • A “Virtually staged” label by default, with your original photo available.
  • Up to 10 changes to that photo, including spot fixes on one region.
  • A ZIP download of the whole listing.

WellStaged is designed to preserve walls, windows, floors and fixtures. Compare each result with the original before publishing. It does not remove furniture, add day-to-dusk, renovate or stage exteriors beyond a patio, so those are not in the price.

What is free

The first room needs no account. A new account previews up to 5 photos free, including that first room once you save it, and a preview that misses gets 1 free “Try again”. Free previews are watermarked, so you see the result before you spend anything. How free virtual staging works.

Worked example: a listing with 8 empty rooms

Say you stage 8 photos for one listing, once.

  • WellStaged: one one listing pack, $29 for 10 photos. You use 8, so it is $29 ÷ 8 = $3.63 per unlocked download. The other 2 credits stay for the next listing. Buying 8 single photos would cost 8 × $5 = $40.00.
  • Human editing service: 8 × $30 = $240.00, if the $30 is per image.
  • Virtual Staging AI: the smallest plan covers only 6 photos, so the cheapest plan that covers 8 is Standard: $35.00 for one month billed monthly, or $4.38 per photo if you cancel afterwards. On yearly billing it is a $228.00 commitment, or $28.50 per photo for this one listing.
  • Collov AI: 60 credits a month for $27.00 billed monthly, or $3.38 per photo if you cancel afterwards. Billed yearly it is $19.00 a month, a $228.00 commitment, or $28.50 per photo for this one listing.

A subscription is billed every month, including months with no listings to stage.

When a subscription is cheaper

If you stage many listings every month, a subscription can cost less per photo than WellStaged. At 20 photos a month, Virtual Staging AI’s Standard plan billed yearly ($228.00 a year) works out to $0.95 a photo, against $2.30 on our three listings pack and $1.79 on our ten listings pack. At 8 photos a listing, that is two to three listings a month.

Pay-per-photo wins when your volume is uneven, when you stage a few listings a quarter, or when you want one look applied across every room of a listing and credits that never lapse.

Staging versus the cost of a vacant listing

NAR’s 2025 survey puts the median cost of physical staging at $1500 when a staging service is used and $500 when the agent stages. Those figures are for staging in general. They show what physical staging costs, not that virtual staging produces the same result. Compare options in virtual vs real staging.

Questions people ask

Is there a monthly fee?
No. WellStaged sells photo credits in packs, from $5 for 1 photo to $179 for 100 photos. You pay when you buy a pack and nothing after that.
Do credits expire?
No. Credits stay in your account until you use them. You can ask for a refund of the unused part of a pack within 30 days of buying it.
Do I pay for previews before I select a version?
No. Previews are free and watermarked. A credit is spent only when you unlock a photo’s selected version for download.
What is the cheapest way to try it?
Upload one empty room on the “Stage a room free” page. The first room is free and needs no account. A new account previews up to 5 photos free, including that first room once you save it, and the smallest pack is $5.
Is physical staging ever the better choice?
Sometimes. Physical staging changes what buyers see at the showing, which virtual staging cannot do. Virtual staging only changes the listing photos, so it suits vacant homes where the cost of furniture is the obstacle.
